Grant Morrison and Dave McKean’s only other collaboration after Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth. This story was commissioned by Mark Nevelow, who headed up DC's Piranha Press imprint in the early 1990s, and was the male model used for depicting “Mad Dog” Hawkins.
Let’s read it together shall we? Some mood music: youtu.be
Grant Morrison - A Glass Of Water
Okay, this is so far up it's own arsehole it waved while passing Alan Moore and just kept on heading up towards the lungs.
If only Morrison had half the talent he believes he possesses.
Let's do shoddy art over B&W photos of me friend Tilly, and hey, lets find a really annoying "journal font" to make it ass to read, and just get all stupidly pretentious about it all.
Everyone’s a critic :/
This thing is transparently Morrison's ode to his own Moore-esque cleverness. Except unlike From Hell, it's pretty much shit.
I do wonder, because he says it was “commissioned” by Mark Nevelow, how specific this commission exactly was. “I want you two guys to collaborate again” or “I want you to write a story about an old depressed librarian who likes romantic poets reflecting on her life” or what
Feels like it's aping Gaiman with its Gothic tweeness. Also, I could see the ending come a mile away.
