>distant future, earth is running out of natural resources, small wars begin to break out around the globe
>meteor crashes to earth, lands near the Florida coast
>scientists study it, use it for animal testing and other shit
>finds out it can be used as a replacement power source (since all the natural fossil fuels on earth are running out) and can be used to power crazy science fiction weapons like giant robots, space jets, etc.
>USA sells the element as the next step in scientific evolution, is seen as a gift from God to finally end the war
>literally almost every single thing on earth is now powered by element, from cars to cities to weapons to even phones
>side effects begin to take hold years later, humans and animals begin to mutate, people get extremely sick
>suddenly the whole world and it’s nations ignite a war with each other, thinking the USA secretly poisoned the element as a subtle bio chemical attack
>bombs fly and destroy civilization, destroying cities and cars powered by the element and releasing it into the air where everything and everyone begins to mutate and feel the effects of the element
>fast forward a few decades, most people live a nomadic lifestyle, living far away from the cities and technological places that were powered by element
Post apocalyptic cartoon lore
Bump
I want earth to be destroyed by two different alien factions who are just fighting each other and couldn't care less about us. Perhaps one side is more bloodthirsty and sometimes hunts stray humans for fun, but generally disregard us. The other side could be more pragmatic and cold, deliberately seeking out humans to enslave (but not engaging in sadism).
Wanna work together
Yes but I have no skill, talent or charm
Do u think my idea is good
I think the idea is good but it would require very balanced writing to avoid becoming a simple political allegory. Obviously there's going to be some politics in a story like that, but I'm sure you know the kind of crap I'm talking about: villains are obvious stand-ins for specific American politicians, the entire conflict is a metaphor for a current event, etc. Not saying that's the direction you would take it in, but that's absolutely the direction that a lot of other people would try to push you towards.
Also, I particularly like that the apocslypse is caused by humans' inability to work together. In all honesty, if the apocalypse happens then it will be because of our ineptitude rather than us being overpowered by a new foe.
Try to collect images to use as stand-ins for concept art. What do nomadic humans look like in your world? Are they like tribals from Fallout 2? Or even more regressed, like the primeval men from Elf Quest?
Also, if this mysterious element is the driving force behind your premise then it needs a good name and maybe iconography. Radiation has its own badass symbol, biohazards have an even cooler one. What could represent your element? A warning sign meant to invoke fear? Or maybe a corporate logo, implying that it's been commodified? Then there's the basic nature of the element. Is it a glowing rock? A liquid? Some kind of energy that's brighter than plasma?
Good luck and see you in a future thread. Don't you dare lose enthusiasm.
Thanks user. In all reality, the lore and cause of the apocalypse isn’t that important, as I just want it to be the backdrop for the setting. I wanted to focus on a coming of age story focused on a group of friends growing up in the wasteland. Basically after each episode/season, the characters begin to age, and the world around them begins to redevelop and heal. You know how in Fallout 1 the world is pretty fucked and by the time Fallout 2 plays out you see the world has begun to heal with new governments, towns, etc sprouting up? That’s basically what I’m going for, but in cartoon form. I imagine the element to be a white flowing crystal that can be broken down into different forms of matter, like gas, liquid, etc. basically every single thing on the earth runs on this element, showing off humans laziness and just letting the element do everything. Phones? Powered by the element. Farms? Robots powered by the element do it all while the farmers sit back and relax. Cars? People just power them with the element and make the car drive itself, etc.

Good, "history segments" always bored me when reading Gamma World novels and the likes

God tier taste. As a kid I loved coming of age stories with a bit of danger and horror to them. I'm an adult now, but maybe you can make something for me to read to my kid someday

I'm glad to see you're putting real thought and care into this world. That makes it a lot easier to get invested in. Actually, that sentence about human laziness has creepy implications. It makes me imagine a well preserved living room full of robot servants. They scrub the floors, they dust, they perform maintenance repairs. They don't realize that their owner died years ago and he's essentially fossilized in his recliner chair.
Is the element still corrupting the world? Can you figure out that a large cache of it is near based on the presence of mutant wildlife, or does it have a subtler impact? A lot of post apocalyptic worlds start to look really samey (desert, greyness, etc.), but yours could stand out. It's got me curious, at least. Is it eerily quiet, or bustling with activity? Is the sky still blue, or has mankind scarred it to the point of changing colors? What are people afraid of here?

Why did I take the night shift? I have to go OP, but hopefully this isn't the last time you post about this. You've got fresh ideas for a genre that badly needs them. Godspeed.
Those look like German liberty primes
Ze panzermesch!
You have already made this thread before. It's a fine premise. Now get to writing or you'll never make it. Start now.
Thanks user. That really encouraged me
I'm actually writing right now, but part of me feels like I need to have connections or attend Cal Arts to make my dream a reality. How should I go about creating it? Should I maybe draw up a short animated pilot and post it on YouTube to get traction? Can I then pitch the pilot (along with a pitch bible explaining the world, characters and episodes) to different networks and studios to hopefully get green lit? What's my best course of action?
I was also going to keep the lore very lowkey and mysterious. I was going to include ciphers throughout the show that, once solved, reveals a little bit more about the setting and what happened, kind of similar to Gravity Falls but more vague and harder to solve. I imagine easy ciphers revealing very basic info and lore, but having much more harder ciphers reveal a bit more in depth about what's going on in the world. For example, I imagine a scene where the main characters open a door to an abandoned military bunker or something, and as the door opens a bunch of papers fly everywhere, with one having a cipher that reveals what the scientists were doing in the bunker and how they were experimenting on live test subjects with the element to study the mental and long term side affects that the element has on the human brain.

Here's what you really should do. Call someone who already made a show and ask them. You can DM Vivziepop. You can E-mail Genndy. Just contact someone, explain yur situation, and ask.
ooo land
Feel like I've seen this thread before
Isnt that the plot of Transformers?
Thats Starcraft
Id watch it
both sides are definitively bad and don't care about human life in that scenario
