hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/conan-the-barbarian-comics-1235168774/ >Titan Comics, the England-based publisher known for its mostly licensed line of titles, has nabbed the comics rights to Conan the Barbarian and other creations of fantasy author Robert E. Howard, entering into a co-publishing venture with Heroic Signature, the intellectual property house that owns the rights.
>The deal covers not just comics but graphic novels as well as re-mastered archives, including the omnibus program previously published by Marvel Comics. Marvel has held the rights to Conan since 2018 and published various comics, including Conan fighting alongside heroes such as Wolverine and Elektra in Savage Avengers.
>Titan plans to put out a line of original comic books based on Howard’s creations, starting with a new Conan the Barbarian title as an ongoing series set to launch in May 2023 to coincide with Titan Comics’ tenth anniversary. Mini-series based on sword-and-sorcery characters such as Puritan evil vanquisher Solomon Kane, red-haired mercenary Dark Agnes, and Atlantean adventurer Kull the Conqueror are due to follow.
>The comics deal between the two companies comes after last year’s book deal regarding Conan for all new novels, short stories and illustrated art books. The first project from that pact is the novel Conan: Blood of the Serpent, due to hit bookstores Oct. 18, followed Conan the Barbarian: The Official Story of the Film, a behind-the-scenes hardback retrospective book due out Nov. 2, 2022.
Conan & the other characters tied to him should stay in Marvel. They've been great, & Conan was originally from Marvel
Samuel Howard
good news then
Isaac Phillips
how did marvel lose the license?
Dylan Myers
Some say that Heroic backed out after the whole Pocahontas controversy, others say Marvel themselves just straight up dropped it
Elijah Reyes
I think both are correct
Bentley Anderson
Are any of the newer Marvel Conan comics as good as their old stuff or should I just ignore it.
Nicholas Powell
I hate Any Forums so much. I hate the internet. You're so terminally online with this absolute endless pit of knowledge readily available and it all gets ignored. You just keep making the most stupid fucking posts on Any Forums, constantly. You wake up, get on to your computer and sit there posting low quality shit for 8 hours before lying in bed, and getting yourself ready to start it all over again. Not once have you considered that you shouldn't post. Please take a moment. Consider it.
Have you considered reading them? Why would you bother trusting anyones opinion on this website? It takes seconds to open up the past 10 years of comic books and try them out.
Bentley Rogers
Aren't the Conan rights permanently purchasable? If not, why?
Colton Carter
that would be stupid from Heroic
Luis Baker
Savage Avengers v1 is good in a fun, pulpy, guilty pleasure way.
Read the first Aaron arc, it wasn't as skullfuckingly awful as his regular Marvel fare, but didn't make me want to read any more
Samuel Harris
Thanks for the recommendation if I get the chance I'll check em out.
Gabriel Moore
So what next, waiting for the last TPBs from Marvel? What about the omnibus editions?
Benjamin Thomas
Marvel is set to release the last omni of CTB collecting the last issues of the original ongoing this December I think
Apparently the CEO of Heroic confirmed they will pick up where Marvel left of with the Omnis
Easton Lewis
Titan doesn't shy away from cheesecake, so thats good.
Wait will Marvel produce the TPB collections of the stuff in the omnis that wasn't in TPB form yet or will TItan be taking that part over?
Landon Brown
Source on the omnibus? Will Titan reprint the early omnibuses or will they just put out the rest of the run?
Adam Mitchell
Well, at least they're doing Solomon Kane. He needs more stuff.
Luke Clark
Sometimes I see comics that are obviously Conan but have generic titles like "The Cimmerian". Who's making those?
Aaron Butler
Europe... Conan is public domain in euroland, so they publish their own Conan comics (also labeled as "Conan" over there). But they have to rename them to "Cimmerian" to avoid copyright shenanigans in the US.
