The fuck? For what fucking purpose does it premiere there half a year after the rest of the world?
And i already ordered the UHD version.
They're going all out with the voice cast, and apparently October is a popular time in Japan to release films like this. But yeah, it IS absurdly late compared to the rest of the world.
>currently ninth highest grossing film of 2022
>highest grossing animated film of the year
Neat.
The Turning Red and Lightyear numbers are that low because of Disney+ day 1 release. TBG came out on streaming two or so weeks after theaters, and apparently on the Amazon streaming service that nobody uses.
TBG came out on streaming four weeks after its theater debut, but still managed to cross over $90m in the weeks following.
The movie is not bad but it goes a lot with predictable clichés.
Honestly I didn't mind the predictability at all, I just got really invested in the characters, they were so likable. I can see them being a bit more daring if they get to do a sequel, and the Maraschino Ruby short feels like a great blueprint for a potential TV series.

Japanese VAs currently announced
>Mr. Wolf: Onoe Matsuya
>Ms. Tarantula: First Summer Uika
>Mr. Shark: Shohei Osada
Furry Twitter went nuts over the date announcement. I wonder how much of the furry side the staff has seen at this point. And how much furry pandering they could get away with in a potential sequel.
Mind blown holy shit
>Japan
Who cares? Fuck weebs
For anyone who hasn't seen the short yet:

Ypu assume that the staff and the furry side are separate?
Ah, fair point. You don't make a wolf and a fox that hot without being a furry yourself.
Come to think of it, are there any other big animated movies coming to theaters this year?
Oh, right, Puss in Boots 2.
Think DW is going to have two successes in a row?
The trailer gave away too much. It's like they don't trust the name alone will bring people to theaters that they need to basically tell everyone exactly what they are going to see to the smallest detail.
