I'm fully convinced that the 2000s could've been the best era in cartoon history, and could've fully moved past all the problems of the 70's and 80's had the 2008 recession not happened.

The shows of early 2010s were the best though

That's what I thought when these shows first came out... when I was a kid. Then I looked back and realized how wrong I was

If you replace 2008 for 9/11 since most of CN's new output post-2004 kinda stunk until chowder came out

You're right about 2005 being the year the seeds were planted for the collapse, but I don't see how 9/11 factors into it.
From 2001 to 2004 we had:
>Robot Jones
>KND
>Grim & Evil
>Teen Titans
>Duck Dodgers
>Megas XLR
>Foster's
>Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi
And then 2005 has:
>Juniper Lee
>Camp Lazlo
>Robotboy
>Gym Partner's a Monkey
>Ben 10
Which I think AmiYumi was a bit weak but still good, but it's solid gold compared to Gym Partner (shit humor and jerkass characters) or Ben 10 (toyline that spiraled out into a cumbersome franchise).

Cartoon Network sucked in the second half of the 2000s because of poor leadership that led to many bad decisions.
The first half of the decade was as good as 90s CN. But people that grew up with 90s CN associate the 2000s with this style change. They are just biased.

I thought robot jones was 90s

the pilot aired in 2000, but the series proper didn't start until 2002.

You could say maybe 9/11 had a delayed effect. 2001 was in fact when Betty Cohen was ousted from CN and replaced by Jamie Kellner (a very corporate guy, infamous for pulling the plug on Animaniacs and WCW). Despite this CN did still mostly continue its Golden age up until the 2004 rebrand.

Correction, Jamie Kellner replaced Betty Cohen with Jim samples

lol not even close, stupid zoomie.

Juniper Lee and camp Lazlo were okay. I don’t see why you list Ben 10 as a negative though. Like the show or not it’s the most successful show CN had, it prints money for them.

>it prints money
so does spongebob, and that hasn't been good since the first movie, spawned 2 shitty spinoffs with 2 more on the way.
they are both a cancer eating the channel from just how profitable they are.

and yeah, JL and CL were good, but the former was overlooked and the latter underplayed.

Camp Lazlo underplayed? CN constantly had marathons of it.

Télétoon too

cn stunk in 2008 because of the writers strike, it's not just the financial crisis. Plus pic rel happened

9/11 changed everything where the corporations especially in entertainment where they would slowly sanitize their image and put certain risk-taking to a halt.

>if 2008 didn't happen, it'd make the previous 8 years of cartoons good instead of can't hold a candle to Spongebob
>I love Flapjack's offspring
>Chowder is good, I loved it when the guy went radda radda radda, radda radda, RADDA, radda radda radda
>I don’t see why you list Ben 10 as a negative though.
I would because I'm critical but it was perfect toy fodder and didn't break too many promises beyond reusing a handful of aliens for samey problem solving and "Oh no, my alien watch is recharging, I can't use it for 95% of the episode so we'd better talk a lot instead whilst the porn artists draw us"
