That is, more often than not, his broad narrative arc. Granted, it's a bit silly to try and distill decades of storytelling by dozens of different authors into a simple phrase like that, but I would still say it is generally accurate enough. You never read a Superman book with a structure like "The big bad is coming to town! Can Superman do a billion pushups in time and get swole enough to win?" They tend to be more about the baddies threatening innocents or Clark's loved ones or using kryptonite in some weird way, then he has to figure out how to apply his incredible powers in order to achieve the ideal outcome.
The question of "Is Superman strong enough?" is almost never asked. The question is "How will Superman get out of this one?"
