it feels like a chicken and egg, thing, we know from his door ceremony portrait that he was awkward and nervous even as a five year old so that seems to be just kind of how he is, and the song implies he lacks tact or a filter, the wedding incident implies he's a bad communicator. There is evidence that a lot of these "quirks" predate the wall incident and possibly go back really far. But his mom has also probably always been kind of strict and controlling and his powers have been a source of stress for most of his life.
