Ozma should be the next Disney princess

Moreover, she deserves a classic 2D adaptation. But for heaven's sake - no woke SJW garbage, pls. Her gender-bender origin is already enough non-standard.

The story of Ozma follows this boy named Tip, your typical orphan working for a witch, he sets on adventure to establish peace on OZ looking for the true heir to the throne princess Ozma, the big twist of the story is that after looking everywhere he ends up being the princess transformed as a baby by the witch so nobody would find her.

Magic cocaine is one hell of a drug, you black out and the next thing you know you wake up with tits.

John R O'Neill originally drew her as a blonde but switched her to brunette in the very next book.
Baum never mentioned her hair color.

I actually hope Disney stays away from the series, Oz is too weird and Disney would sand all of its edge off into pure dull sludge.

Ozma isn’t even the only time Baum showed he has a bit of a fascination with gender bending and gender nonconformation. The Enchanted Isle of Yew is a story about a fairy that magically transforms herself into a male knight for shits and giggles.

And Chick, the titular co-star of The Adventures of John Dough and Chick the Cherub, is a child whose gimmick is partly that nobody knows if they’re a boy or a girl.

Weirdly, though, Baum also made the women’s suffrage movement into a big joke in his Oz books, by writing about a crazy girl named General Ginjur who lead a female army that was mostly obsessed with makeup and fashionable uniforms, whose military goal was forcing men to take care of babies and do laundry.

first trans princess.

A century too late. Reminder that The Wizard of Oz's author was literally a male feminist

Baum was raised by a feminist and later he married a sufragist. And while he was a self-declared male feminist, he could have a love-hate relationship with his mother

Worst part about being an Oz fan is loving John R Neill’s art so much, but that so very few other Oz adaptations outside of his books try to fit his style. He didn’t even do the original first book, so casuals that look into the series but don’t go further in don’t even associate Oz with his illustrations. He even redesigned Dorothy to have short blonde hair (I’m pretty sure on Baum’s request) but everyone associates Dorothy with the brown pigtail look.

In the book where she first appears, the one with the sex-change, she doesn't show up until the final chapter.
And if you're going to skip that, Ozma rarely does anything exciting. Disney movies always have the heroine facing some sort of challenge.
Ozme stays in the palace and watches in her mirror while Dorothy and her companions have all the adventures.
Ho hum.
Besides, between Glinda and her belt, she's pretty invincible.

The few times she DOES face a genuine threat, such as when the Nomes tunnel into the palace courtyard, she's passive and refuses to fight back. She'd rather the Ozites all be killed or enslaved before she'd resort to violence. She's no Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ah the nostalgia, this show was my childhood

Did Ozma ever show up in that crappy CG movie that turned out to be a money laundering scheme? I never watched it.

yeah I’d rather not see where they go with that

If there were an Ozma movie, it’d really have to be a Tip movie about her origin. And audiences probably wouldn’t even like her transformation at the end, because it’d be another Beauty and the Beast thing where everyone already loved the Beast so the Prince was just underwhelming.

Shanower is _very_ faithful to Neill's style.
Even Scottie Young imitated him -- in a cartoonish way.

Mark Buckingham, in "Fables", departed radically and made her a superheroine.

Exactly why Disney shouldn't (and likely won't) do it.

What this about money laundering?

I meant to post Scottie Young's version

But that’s just supergirl.

Nah, Baum called her hair “ruddy gold” at her first proper appearance and then never mentioned it again:
>All adown her back floated tresses of ruddy gold

Iirc, Legends of Oz was a movie made by a semi-fake company via a big crowdfunding campaign that targeted gullible upper middle class out of touch boomers, promising that the movie was gonna be this huge hit and that they were making a wise investment by backing it, and that they were all gonna see this big profit. Then the movie was technically made, but it was mediocre and quickly forgotten, and the whole thing was pretty clearly a big scam and somebody at the top probably ran off with a lot of the donations. “Laundering” probably isn’t the right word, but it was a scam.

Except Supergirl shares her cousin's "no kill" policy.
Ozma fights dirty and anything goes.

Ah! "The Producers"
