It seems like people who engage with fanon oftentimes don't realize how far away it is from canon and don't think what you've said is true, and then there's people like you that think that interest in the fanon character isn't valid. Maybe it's because i'm an autist raised in the culture, but I personally like the collective false-memory memetics of cartoon girls and our enjoyment of them. Heck, with characters like Velma, over time the fanon leaks into canon and we literally forge our own waifus. Idk I think it's cool.
