This was animation in 1991. Which one do you prefer?
Adrian Jackson
Kevin Jenkins
someone died to make both of these 3 second clips, like how japanese programmers die of heart attacks making the latest mario
Blake Murphy
Good ol' Dickie animated that without a computer!
Hunter Brooks
They're both excellent and trying to compare one to the other is a fool's errand
Oliver Nguyen
The one that was hand-drawn is clearly more impressive.
Jack Martinez
dickie is better
with the cgi you can see the polygons
Aaron Perez
I know this may sound like bait but right is too smooth and detailed and ends up being more distracting
Isaac Watson
>like how japanese programmers die of heart attacks making the latest mario
mamma mia, gonna need a source for that
Jacob Russell
mamma mia
Chase Baker
which movie came out and which movie never saw the light of day.
Chase Miller
Nathan Torres
Both came out.
Kayden Morris
Posting rando comments is cringe
Brody Gray
No, this is right.
The right is bad design and inefficient to boot. Guy should never been put in charge of a project with that kind of vision.
Nolan Cooper
With any project you have to balance effort and efficiency.
Right took lots of effort. The end result looks good, but if you wanted to do it again or make some changes, you'd have to start all over. That's not efficient.
Left also took a lot of effort but it improved the state of the art so that future projects could be more efficient. Also in case of changes, you could re-render the scene with negligible billed hours compared to Right.
Colton Green
nope. right was supposed to be the next milestone in animation. like how the snes was a step up from the nes.
Austin Lewis
Something about that Beauty and the Beast scene always felt off to me. The dance animation itself is just ripped from Sleeping Beauty, and despite utilizing a pretty static camera angle, it looks far better than the pan in that Beauty and the Beast was going for.
Levi Ward
the hand-drawn one was a insane vanity project that burned money for years on years until the studio had to confiscate the feature from the animator and *finish* it, by themselves
Easton Cox
What’s the one on the right?
Xavier Ward
Unpopular opinion: I like the thiefs internal monologue in the miramax cut
Austin Cox
nice gif quality retard
Benjamin Foster
Keep in mind it was an independently funded side project for most of these years and only got picked up by Warner Bros. in 1989. Most of the animation in the film was animated in the last 2 years.
