Superman is memed as the boyscout, so despite it being overplayed evil Superman interests the uncreative because Superman himself is the antithesis of evil.

Well Batman has his insane plot armor that allows him to conjure exactly the type of bullshit to deal with whatever the story throws at him. Unless it's the Joker, who always wins by default because jokerwank > everything. Injustice Batman invented kryptonite pills that allow normal people temporarily to go toe to toe with superpowered beings.
I think at this point Batman being the bad guy is more of a twist that Superman being the bad guy.
