It didn't? What the fuck are you talking about OP? It's regularly considered either the best or second best spider-man cartoon series.
It's fairly loved, it's just that a lot of scenes ("SHOCKERRRRRR!", Venom in the truck, and such) are meme'd to death, but that's mostly in good humor.
The show is great but like all 90's Marvel cartoons good and bad ones, it's a bit of a fucking mess and easy to riff on.
The only thing I hate about this show is it has no actual ending and I hate the hypocritical censorship that X Men's cartoon from around the same time did not have to deal with (X Men still had censorship like not letting Wolvering cut flush and blood mind you).
Another thing I hate is how people in general seem to bash 90s Spiderman cartoon while worshiping Sony's Spectacular Spiderman even though that show had flaws all the same, I could not get into it because I hated the art style which was more infantile looking than even the first Ben 10 cartoon. I'm saying it, the first Ben 10 cartoon had a more serious art style than Spectacular Spiderman.
>and I hate the hypocritical censorship that X Men's cartoon from around the same time did not have to deal with
Was there ever an explanation why X-Men got away with a little more violence?
It never did. Acknowledging that the show had some flaws and some goofy moments does not mean it's bashing it. It's honestly a healthy way of looking at nostalgic content.
It started strong, but got crappier and crappier with every season as the lack of budget and heavy censorship became harder to ignore.
I don't get why Kingpin was Spiderman's arch nemesis since he's supposed to be Daredevil's arch nemesis.
Cool writing but it suffers from some absolutely shit animation, weirdly paced dialogue, and linebacker character design.
Kingpin began as a Spider-Man villain
>nd I hate the hypocritical censorship that X Men's cartoon from around the same time did not have to deal with (X Men still had censorship like not letting Wolvering cut flush and blood mind you
Basically as each show came on it show came on Censors cracked down on the next show. BTAS got some censorship, but could get away with some stuff, so X-men couldn't do as much. By the time Spider-man was coming out, Power Rangers was causing some controversy over the violence in it(seriously) to the point where it was being considered for being banned in some countries. so to play it safe they gave the Spider-man team a list of stuff they couldn't do.
The only time people bash on the show is when they want to prop up one of the other Spider-Man shows.
What weird is animation actually looks good in some places, mainly cuz animated by TMS but the editing style of quick cuts and choppiness on fucking crack doesn't do it any favors.
Wow I don't remember Prowler getting in this series
Spider-Man had legend animation studio TMS on it while fuckin' X-Men got stuck with AKOM the studio so shit, they got fired on Batman, so Spider-Man had larger budget and better studio but I think the mix of digital and cel,cgi shit and editing didn't really show case the animation well. This some great animation movement wise but editing ruins lot of it. youtube.com
X-Men had better editing though and wasn't so all over the place, not doing fucking quick shots everytime also art more detailed so people think it the high budget show but animation in 90's X-Men has almost no flow and just real boring stiff shit.
The editing and pacing of Spider-Man 94 might be the worst thing about it, like it was edited by a dude on coke.
You watch Godzillamendozas video didn't you.
Mendoza got the fucking Spider-Man having lower budget than X-Men wrong and dude doesn't understand animation at all shit wrong like other part of him talking the show ok but when he gets into animation it's painful like when he says why does it look better on a modern TV cuz Spider-Man TAS was digitally posited even though I think it was still cel painted but the digital shit makes it look like it was digitally painted THAT'S why.
Started with Spectacularfags bullying the show to boost their own (both shows are really good though).
Alright, alright. I understand your frustration
Quite a few people rewatched it after not having seen it as a kid and it didn't live up to what they remembered it being. Obviously not everyone experiences this, some people are going to rewatch it and have a good time, but there definitely are a group of people who rewatched it and were disappointed.
Personally, I loved the show as a kid, but watching it again, it's not that great, especially compared to other shows like X-Men and Batman. I wouldn't call it a bad show, though. It definitely was fun as a kid after all.
because it was destroyed by censors
Writer lies about that but they clearly where more censored than other shows, even 80's Gi Joe and Transformers got away with more sometimes.
