Can we just admit that MJ's always fucking sucked? She's shit in Raimi trilogy, boring af in the MCU, Insomniac MJ is just...there. Same with the 90s cartoon(In fact the most memorable MJ moment from that show was from a clone). Hell, literally her first appearance in the comics is just focused on her being hot. That's it.

Really the only good interpretation of her is in Spectacular. But that's just because Spectacular Spider-Man does everything great(Except for the Vulture but you know what are you gonna do?).

So yeah, Marvel if you plan on rebooting Spidey for like the millionth time again. Just scrap her. Literally any other of love interest of Peter from the comics would be better.

MJ didn't become a great character until this scene. This, or something like it needs to be in an adaption.

>She's shit in Raimi trilogy,
Incorrect

Mj was more popular than Gwen with a lot of readers before this scene. She hadn't been written with the kind of depth she got post-NGSD, this is true, but people already enjoyed her appearances

Popularity != great character.

>le character is the problem and not hack writers

On the other hand, what the writer considers to be a great character may not be popular with readers.
They have to accept that their tastes don't dictate mass appeal. No matter how much Lucas loves Jar-Jar Binks, he'll never be beloved by the masses.

Why'd you include M. J.-W. with M.J. W.? They're not the same character even if they're both love-interests of Pete.

Hence why I said she wasn't a complex character but I didn't really expand my point. Imo, the issue with adaptation is trying to put their eggs in one basket. They don't want her to a party girl, which is fine, but drag her down in angst or try to 180 from everything that made her last long enough while two-dimensional at best instead of using the Romita version as a basis.

Busiek retconned her into a pretty interesting character in Untold Tales of Spider-Man. She always knew that Peter was Spider-Man and kept up the clueless ditz act around him in order to hang around Spider-Man and not cause him suspicion, plus her personality was cover for trauma growing up in an abusive household.

Usually I hate that kind of retcon, but as it adds depth to an otherwise pretty flat character, I really liked it.

The best MJ moment out of any of these films is when she says she'll find out Peter is Spider-man again.

She's a garbage character with garbage adaptations. Period.

>inb4 marywhoreKEKS come to shit the thread
Thought you could steal from Gwen? Think again imbecile you failed
Full circle garbage.

>muh trauma

What else are love interests supposed to do?

Ahahahahaaa

Felicia Hardy > Gwen = Cindy >>> Kitty > Carol > rest

>Being upset at truma in soap opera books for boys.

Oh hi that autistic Feliciafag

Also, trauma turning a person more chipper is hardly a cliche.

Insomniac MJ is not "just there," Iassure you she is the worst MJ incarnation. By a wide wide margin.

>I'm going to throw myself into horribly dangerous situations constantly and for no good reason
>superpowered boyfriend comes and saves me from my own retarded decision making
>get pissed at him and tell him to stop treating me like I'm made of glass

And that says nothing of how boring her actual gameplay was and how it killed the pacing of the game.

>I

>But that's just because Spectacular Spider-Man does everything great
Yeah but MJ was easily the best girl in that. So basically at their best, MJ is the best.

Do Lois Lane or... Pepper Potts or Jane Foster get as many re-imaginings as MJ does?
Like is Lois ever, I dunno, a cop instead of a member of the news media. Or is Pepper Potts sometimes a street magician and Jane Foster is the owner of a food truck?

>retcon
All of that was established in 80s comics you insufferable casual.

>otherwise pretty flat character
Wanna know how I know you never read 60s comics?

No. Boo hoo, adaptations guck up good characters, what else is new

>can we admit they always sucked

absolutely. in the comics she was always a fucking nag when he was out SAVING PEOPLE'S LIVES AND DOING HEROIC SHIT

>I didn't read the comics
