Considering the first season finale, are you surprised? All of the main girls are written by a guy who has never met actual teenage girls and sucks off anime's shriveled nip cock.
I liked the smooth animation during that scene, actually fit in with the show's style instead of being jarring like in Owl House where the "sakuga" scenes are too slow.
Homaging Dragon Ball is one thing but considering this is meant to be an actual plot point taken seriously, the reference just feels as hollow as “GET IT? CAUSE IT’S SUPER SAIYAN BLUE LOL”
Even most of the fanart & reactions were just “wow, she’s goku”
Will never not be funny as fuck
>Yamate kydasai, Anne-sama, AIIIEEEEE!!!
She cute tho
*Dabs on u*
Could she beat Steven
This, the thing is there is no problem about the powers but it looks so derivative of DBZ you can't take it seriously, this is the kind of stuff that you would see on a parody episode not the climax of your story.
They should have shown a different kind of form for Anne.
everything on this image is funny the fact that it's an "homage" to dbz the stupid expression on the characters face, that is made on a kiddy cartoon with simple noodle limb artstyle and the fact it unironically tries to make me take it seriously has me in tears
I agree completely, which is strange for once.
Story-wise, the powers are well foreshadowed and tie in incredibly well to Anne and Sasha's relationship, thus fitting thematically (essentially forcing Sasha into a support role where she can redeem herself,) plus, on paper, it's just simply cool and opens the door for some fantastic action scenes, which is why I can't really call it a stupid decision. But the design itself is so derivative.
I understand that Anne needed to be blue, the blue HAS to be a significant part of the change, but I would have honestly preferred we get that one Thai Queen design they had brainstormed. Just something unique to Amphibia; perhaps even frog-like if we want to be obvious. I think the sticks and leaves were a great touch. If you lost the energy waves, and kept Anne's hair similar to how it normally is instead of spiking up, maybe go full Stakeout, I honestly think nobody here would have a problem with it.
The first season finale was kino, the fuck are you talking about?
There was no winning at it really, go full frog people would shout naruto, go tai and people would’ve said why does frog powers make her tai queen.
>perhaps even frog-like
that would have been kind of based since this is a frog world.
I thought naruto was a foxman, I think frog form would work.
Frog sage
You know, I think I could have overlooked this, if the next season wasn't so garbage on top of it.
That's just why you don't go full frog, just like how you don't go full DBZ.
Going full Thai would obviously get us a lot of shitposting about how Matt is shoehorning his culture into the story, but as we've seen, that shitposting does die down eventually, and then we get into the interesting discussions such as 'so is Sasha going to be roman themed when she powers up?' And 'what culture does Darla embody?'
Right, but the immediate problem is that it's obvious. Frog world turns you into a frog. It's fitting the identity but it's not very clever. I've always been behind the idea that she should have just gotten froggy eyes and blue hair. We can keep the leaves though, they're cool. Maybe go for something more Secret of Kells, where Anne's hair becomes stylized mist, that could have worked.
But then again, there is something to be said for playing it safe.
>B-but Dragon Ball didn't invent power-up transformations!
Amphibia isn't really the cleverest of shows anyway, it thrives, or well thrived, on good execution of relatively simple ideas.
What culture do forest witches come from?
