I don't think Epic cares whether they sell or not. They made a (prettyboy) comics accurate Shang-Chi and released it when the movie dropped despite MCU Shang-Chi looking totally different. I've never seen anybody besides me use it.
I do think the main reason they do it is brand awareness. Millions of kids will have an awareness of She-Hulk and Galactus that they otherwise wouldn't have when they finally appear in the MCU
