just finished the Origins storyline. Been reading as much Dredd as I can get my hands on. It's the greatest series of comics I have ever read.

How well do we fare in Dredd's world?

Not very. Your whole continent is a corrupt megacity who will make whatever criminal has the most money their chief judge.

South America has four Mega-Cities in total:
- Brasilia, in Brazil. Wasn't seen much and was nuked during Judgment Day, when the undead armies of Sabbat the Necromagus tried to kill Earth.
- South-Am, in Chile. Same as Brasilia.
- The Pan-Andes Conurb, up in Perú. This one is still standing and had a story of its own, The Sugar Beat. It's blindingly, incredibly racist, and it came out in the 90s so it doesn't even have the "old comics" excuse. As for the city itself, it's a corrupt hellhole nestled deep in the mountains with an Inca motif. Most judges are fat, lazy, useless slobs who take bribes for everything.
- Ciudad Barranquilla, built over my hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina (with a bit of Uruguay thrown in). Also a highly corrupt hellhole, but slightly less racist than Pan-Andes. The judges ruled the city like a military junta until MC-1 toppled them and installed their own puppet regime. Currently known as a haven for criminals and illegal activities of all sorts.
- There's also Guatemala, a recently built robot state governed purely by and for robots. Humans are violently discriminated against and used for sinister purposes.
The silver lining is that South America in general is not quite as irradiated as, say, North America. There are nuclear deserts to the north and south, but far and large, most ecosystems are relatively untouched. There's even a surprising amount of Amazonian rainforest still standing.
