Nah it's probably cause the story was originally designed to mock a lot of the characters and tropes of the Scooby Doo franchise.
So if people wanted the first ever live action scooby Doo movie to be the usual mystery story they weren't getting that.
And the story ended up being less cynical than originally intended and some of the joke ideas got cut shorter than they needed to be.
So you got this failed middle ground movie of a very tame mockery of Scooby Doo that plenty of people didn't want

Personally? I do not like the CGI Scooby Doo. I also do not like the self aware humor. There's just so much of that stuff now that I've kind of retroactively gotten a lot more bored of it and it feels lazy.
The one thing I do like about it is the sets and location. I feel like at the very least it looks like they had a lot of fun designing the location.
But this movie always just felt like a worst version of Zombie Island.
