Most companies don't want a bunch of R pictures because you've automatically cut your potential audience in half.

Whoever's making decisions at DC sure is retarded. They'd make villains by establishing a black label tier where they give the Joker treatment to all their villains, could help them stand out from the MCU flicks. Just with Batman's rogue gallery alone they could make dozens of movies and shows. If only they had a fucking plan and someone competent in there.

Because Joker's name alone will make people flock to the movies just like Batman. No one is going to want to watch a movie named Luthor or Penguin, they'll all flop. They don't know these characters and they don't care to especially after Luthor's disastrous showing in BvS.

Joker is like a top 2 most popular villain ever, of course he'll make a billion. Joker is the exception, no other villain can carry a solo movie like he can apart from Darth Vader.
