I once saw someone propose that one consequence of Zuki is that Kyoshi would become more tied to the Fire Nation than the Earth Kingdom, and the Kyoshi Warriors would essentially become the Avatar universe version of the Varangian Guard. It was a neat bit of speculative worldbuilding I've never forgotten, and I'd be lying if I didn't like Zuki in part for that reason.
