I just watched this movie...

I just watched this movie. It seems like the theme was that the entire family of exceptionally gifted/talented people were expected to change to accommodate one person who is kind of a fuckup? Maybe I am reading this wrong?

Yes, you are an idiot

Yes, their Abuela.

you're right, but you're probably thinking the wrong person is the fuckup.

The theme is Abuela wanting to do things for the family by making them suffer with constant expectations.

Just don't be jerks to her?

The points the movie tried to get across were developed kinda weakly, so much so that as you see, not everybody can tell what was it about even.

some people are just retards

It's Mirabel, dude. She's not a bad person but she is kind of a fuckup and the fact the movie keeps painting her as the victim is flat out wrong considering the environment she lives in. If Mirabel can't get by as a normal in a house full of supers then she shouldn't be living with them in the first place (there is an entire town of people who would happily look after Mirabel and she could see her family whenever she wanted, so don't give me shit for this suggestion).

The other characters seemed generally pretty happy at the beginning of the movie. If Mirabel had never been born, Bruno wouldn't have left. Mirabel isn't a "villain," but she's a chaotic agent who fucks up everything around her and causes the conflict in the movie.

The slutty grandma is the shitty one. Everything was her fault and good thing she's basically at death's door

see, there's a retard now

What did she do that was slutty? After her husband died, she wasn't shown remarrying anyone or having any boyfriends.

Mirabel is pretty retarded. As soon as she sees cracks in the Casita, she runs and yells the sky is falling... In the middle of a celebration with the whole town in Antonio's room. I mean that's basically the equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded movie theater. No wonder Abuela hated her. If Mirabel gave her actions any thought, the wise thing would be to approach her mom first and then the mom can relay the information to Alma.

Worst part is Mirabel didn't learn shit from the story and is only celebrated for just existing. She's pretty much special needs at this point.

Not to mention that it wasn't her family keeping her in the kiddie room. The house is fucking magic and does whatever it wants. If she didn't have a room it's because the house didn't want her to have one.

Are you people doing this on purpose I have to believe you are doing this on purpose the alternative is to horrifying to consider

>looks like the house is collapsing right this second
>better not tell anyone!

Why does she look like a fucking wojak?

because your brain has rotted from the inside out

Glad to know that there'll be a thread each and every day about Encanto and user's first time seeing it before coming to an outlandish realization.

It was a hairline crack. Stucco cracks. Either way, maybe talk to someone in private first. The house wasn't going to crumble right that second anyway.

She does look like a wojak, though. The one /qa/ posts all the time, with the dumb glasses.

again, that's just your brainrot

Keep deluding yourself.

The whole movie was vaguely satanic

>vaguely satanic
>said about a movie that is as close to showing Catholic iconography as modern Disney will ever get

How so?

That was no hairlineā€¦that was jagged cracks rapidly tearing through the entire house.

Listen to yourself dude
You're saying, because the girl born into our family wasnt given a gift for whatever reason, we should basically put her up for adoption to live amongst the normies. She's only a fuck up in the sense of she's trying to stand out amongst her super powered family, she could easily just do nothing or something miniscule but then she wouldnt be included and part of the family. Much like someone who posts on comic themed boards all day without interacting with their family at all outside of dinner.

Sounds like you straight up missed the point of the movie.

It wasn't enough to throw everybody into a frenzy. Mirabel would have been a lot more successful if she first told her mom what she saw.

she's not even particularly trying to stand out, she wants to help the family as best she can just like the rest of them.

Mirabel should have known upon accepting she has no gift that she will never match the success of the rest of her family. And she never even tried to help the town or be part of the town either.

The best thing Mirabel could do is step out of the way. She needs to know when she can't help or can hinder help.

that's literally part of the problem that leads to the house collapsing. Abuela makes the family do everything for the town without any respite or help and they start cracking under the pressure.

Not them, but some people just refer to any woman they don't like as "slutty" even if they are the furthest thing away from a slut as possible in reality.
