What are the predictions, bros?
Comfy South Park season 25 thread
What are the odds we get a single episode this season which doesn't reference COVID?
i think they might not reference it much considering they covered everything they could in the covid specials.
That's what I thought before the first episode, but they did it anyway. I hope it's just a one of thing, if they do continue with covid commentary they better make sure the episode is still very funny.
Episodes will stay low scope like pajama day (mostly in-town, no time consuming detailed environments or shots) because they're doing the 6 day production schedule while working remotely
ironically this will bring the show closer to how it was in the earlier seasons when people liked it more
i hate to potentially politishit and i really dont wanna make this thread uncomfy but...
question is... how much more info is coming out?
matt n trey have been known to keep going on about events as they gained new info or changed their opinions.
however all new info abt covid seems to largely go against the popular hollywood opinion so i suppose thisll prove whether theyre committed to their current circle and everything theyve been allotted to say, and my theory that theyve simply been making nontroversial humor turns out to be true. which, god, i hope not. or if they ARE willing to take riskier jabs nowadays and are just sucking at comedy on a simpler and apolitical level
The first episode didn't really reference it much if at all really. I don't think they're going to talk about COVID much anymore. What's been said is done. Nothing much more to add now.
>craigs gang episode
>genderbend episode
>speds episode
>goths episode
-things were NOT getting this season
>The first episode didn't really reference it much if at all really.
Half the episode was dedicated to same mask jokes over and over
>we're getting a valentines episode next week
>IT'S THE TEGRIDY FARMS SPECIAL VALENTINES EPISODE
i hate
>theyve simply been making nontroversial humor
Of course this is what they're doing, I thought it was obvious. They're not going to do anything risky anymore, especially after the media shitstorm of the election followed immediately by covid. You'd have to be a masochist to attempt it now.
>You'd have to be a masochist to attempt it now.
i think you NEED to be some kinda masochist to do comedy in general... thats the sad thing- no one is anymore
Everyone is tired dude. The world's been in a shitty spot, and regardless of what side someone takes, they're constantly putting up with their own kind of bullshit. Comedy is more appealing when you're already in a comfortable spot. Most people want to relax, and controversy or cheekiness is the last thing they want.
you say that, but comedy is actually the solution to most things in life, or at the very least the treatment
its used best when we need it most
>THE TEGRIDY FARMS SPECIAL
Please no not again.
'Putin on the Ritz' - Vladimir Putin visits South Park, and he's not doing anything! Vlad's incessant "I'm not touching you" jokes drive the townsfolk crazy. Key figures like the Mayor decry his actions and Jimbo forms an ever-growing militia to prepare for if Putin actually does something, but will he?
'Truck Canucks Go Nuts' - South Park is beseiged by Canadian truckers, and they're not your buddy guy! The truckers cause havoc searching for Terrence and Phillip, who have fled their homeland and hidden themselves somewhere in South Park after they publicly came out in support of controversial new Kraft Dinner legislation.
>Current event jokes that actually sound funny
Maybe 15 years ago we would've got these episodes
nice, i can see both working hilariously if written well
...
they wouldnt be written well, would they?
>Randy moves the family to a weed farm as his new job
>ok whatever
>he names it "tegridy" so they can make jokes about how everybody needs 'tegridy
>ok that's a mildly amusing joke for a one episode story
>they're still making the same joke four fucking years later
SING IT WITH ME
I'M GOING DOWN TO TEGRIDY FARMS GONNA HAVE MYSELF A TIME
>its their current gimmick and biggest cashcow
I still don't get the joke about the name, what does needing tegridy mean?
yknow
like in your bum
integrity
That's a very subjective and very modern American interpretation of life. I say that as the son of former soviets, who are a very serious people because they lived a very harsh life. Comedy still existed in their world, but if you offered it as a solution to anything they'd think you were a drooling idiot. Times are tough in the US right now, people's dispositions are changing and when things get difficult comedy just naturally takes a back seat until there's a moment to rest. Still, I think there are more ways to be funny than to be controversial. I don't think it's wrong for South Park to explore other avenues for laughs.
It's integrity corrupted in the same fashion as "they took our jobs" becoming "dey dook arr dehh"
we got to have a Joe Rogan ep, no?
even my mom quotes the tegridy stuff.
you say that as if comedy is a manmade construct and not a superior universal force
>t. jimmy
It's fine if you're autistic about comedy but at least try to understand why it's changing form like it is.
