user Jurassic Park was an adaptation of a book, like most movies. You know why? Because a book that has proven to have turned a profit is proof of an audience/income. That's how most movies are made, because it's a safe investment for everyone involved in the project. They're not going to shell out millions on a random script unless its backed by a well known director, writer, or actor
