I just clicked through two of their fairly recent live performances. One clocked in around ten minutes, the other about fifteen...and neither one was an actual song, just a buildup to literally nothing. You can go ahead and edge to your heart's content, but some of us have jobs.
How come other countries didn't follow Japan's example in making music a mandatory class at school, it's certainly the most important factor in them having such a large music scene despite their size.

What? There's a lot of good jazz and especially a ton of free jazz that came out of japan.It's not stuff you can tap your foot to, but the hitorri label on bandcamp has a lot of really experimental stuff. Satoshi Ashikawa did a lot for ambient music and on the opposite end of the spectrum is right, a lot of the really noteworthy noise acts are japanese as well.
