its funny I lived in the bay area in the 80s and they were super loyal to the local bands back then which were Jefferson Starship, Journey, Boz Scaggs, Huey Louis and the New, Santana, and thats it, not much else

most bay area bands aren't from SF though, because it's tiny and prohibitively expensive, and like, has a pretty small population (800k) for how globally recognized it is. It's like how in NYC, you're gonna find more artists in brooklyn than manhattan. most of the artsy shit going on here is in oakland. or bands will just fucking live with their parents in concord or something, lol
