Not every band has a masterpiece. Arctic monkeys being one of them. Explain why this is a masterpiece

Not yet

massive step up from AM which was dull and boring. concept and aesthetic is executed perfect and really suits alex turner’s vocal style. instantly filtered their fans who were expecting them to make another AM or go back to their old so-called UK “indie” rock sound. Experimental but not to the point it is pretentious. The fact the consensus on this album is that it is a flop is beyond me.

Doesn’t make it good tho

Honestly the moment it came out.

based

after five or so listens of it, that being said after listening to their new single i think this upcoming album will be better

am keen on their new track was hoping they’d keep up with the same style as TBHC

>The fact the consensus on this album is that it is a flop is beyond me.

AM sold gigabillions that's why.
Anyway DESU+C might be underrated (although it's has become a common refrain that this is an underrated album), but this board is way too low on AM just cause teen girls liked it

New single is lit, although I wouldn't mind some guitars

Because is their only good album.

took me like 3 listens now I’m sure it’s the best album of the 2010s

KISS ME UNDERNEATH THE MOONS SIDE BOOOOOB

This is the corrext take. Old Any Forums used to hste AM despite being a really good and competent hard rock/indie rock record just because tumblr and tumblrinas alt girls liked it at the time.
I mean AM has plenty of the most iconic rock riffs of the last decade and YET Hotel Casino Mogs it musically.
Is just such a genuine and inteligent move you know? It really makes it feel like piece of art like you would like something like In Utero or Blackstar

>I mean AM has plenty of the most iconic rock riffs of the last decade

More than that it will probably go down as the last "great" rock album to touch the mainstream.

It is fantastic, easily their second best, Humbug remains their masterpiece though. Unique sounding to this day, perfectly produced, and the peak of Alex's early lyricism.

That what funny about it. While it IS a rock album the aesthetics of it are really really far away from say Led Zeppelin or Cheap Trick. It has a '''rock''' DNA but it sure isn't inmigrant song.
It just really marks a clear line of 'Blues Rock as your parent knew it will never be cool again'
It has musical qualities of rock like riffing and soloing but it sure has a completely different set of values and aesthetics on a lot of ways. That why people liked the album it remained a lot of the good parts of the old rock sound and modernized it to a younger generation of indie kids

Always liked it but don't know if it's a masterpiece yet. The dust has settled and it is safe to say that WPSIATWIN is their masterpiece.

favourite songs from the album?

mine is four out of five

Dismissed it when it cames out, months later i could still see everyone talking about the concept and everything. Give it a listen, it took some time to grow on me but i have not listened to anything else once it did. Easily one of the most important albums of the 2010s, on par with 2 or Salad days from Mac

Quite enjoy the title track and Star Treatment me. Still can't get behind She Looks Like Fun.

>Still can't get behind She Looks Like Fun
probably the best song in the album, lyrically
