Exactly my feelings on them too. It's one of those albums that despite being obviously kinda soi I simply can't deny how good it is.

It just uses its sort of "cheap" emotional progression to work really well. I like blasitng it while driving as poorly singing along to "AND I KNOW, YOUR SORROW" and All Hallow's Grieve is fun. StS are just a good band really.
I could see the album being AOTY for me if it was a weak year, but 2021 was pretty good.

The all-orchestra version of that album isn't that interesting though, you can tell it's written in a way where it compliments the metal and doesn't work standalone.

That violin "riff" in Enemy is the cheapest thing in the world but it gets me everytime.

It might just be that we have affinity for gay shit user, but I don't mind too much as it means I enjoy more stuff I guess.
Woven Into Sorrow is my weak spot for cheap shit that still gets me off that album.
