i don't think lady gaga was ever meant for the mainstream
also interesting because when she came out she was more embraced by pretentious hipster types
who typically shun musicians that get radio play/ were on MTV constantly
while being seen as weird by the mainstream who were more interested in katy perry
she would have fit in well with that indie pop/electronic scene but probably would have faded like a lot of those artists as the 2010s moved on
her music isnt really as popular as it used to but she gets big movie roles and is not that bad of an actor
she did her rounds in new york before she blew up, kinda part of the 00s hipster scene there so thats probably why
shes by no means a started from the bottom artist, she o me from money, is a trained pianist and was on an episode of the sopranos years before anyone would know who she was (that one episode where anthony jr and some other kids broke into the school and trashed it)
i like her music and was probably one of the last mainstream artist i really paid any attention to
