It would have been better if you also gave a genre that you like to see what specific side of death metal you may like more
darkwave
Death - "Crystal Mountain"

it's a fun jam
Try all those on the right.
black metal
For me, this was an album that convinced me that death was good, but this was after being a pretty hardcore bm fan for a while. If you want the purest, most earpiercing noise imaginable that makes your skin crawl try this out. But if that's what you don't like about the genre, you might have to try melodeath or some shit
Jazz Fusion

One Holy Moses for the both of yous.
But honestly, if you can't roll with Bolt Thrower, DM is just not for you.

It's a 13 minute EP, one of the best shoegaze EP's ever
indie rock
indie pop
post-punk revival
emo/midwest emo
basically anything under the indie description
just sounds so fruity if you can find indie that doesn't sound fruity I'll be amazed
for emo/midwest emo, try this amazing tune

otherwise i bet any band that mixes (90s) post-hardcore with those genres will fit your fancy, a little more edge. like this indie/post-hardcore maybe
