The thing is I really like his videos explaining music theory and concepts. Honestly this guy as an educator / communicator really adds alot to the world.
His albums on the other hand are just awful.
Maybe he needs to become like a Steven Drozd type musician, join a band and make someone else's vision a reality.

Jacob Collier doesn't make music because he has something to say, he makes music because he wants to put his theory knowledge to use.
Bach knew more theory than everyone alive combined, but he made music to praise God, not to show how good he was. As long as you have a real emotion, a real reason to make music, it can be good, but if you're making music just for the sake of it it's gonna suck.

Music theory is kinda useful when you're in the middle of a song and you want to make a chorus and you can't think of one. But you can just look up the chords you're using and figure out what mode you're in.
