Exactly. But it was the first to do so.

no it doesn't

It doesn't sound like Giant Steps, or Bitches Brew, or Free Jazz, or Somethin' Else.

Any Forums plebs can never grasp modal jazz
(yes, yes, only two tracks on KoB are modal, but it was still a novel concept)

Nothing, it's just a more boring Blue Train for plebs.

is it that nigga from house m.d.

Blue train is just Coltrane trying to sound like Blakey

So What is a great track and that's about it, and it's not even the best version

Shit taste. Objectively correct ranking is:

Blue in Green > All Blues > Flamenco Sketches > So What > Freddie Freeloader

flamenco sketches > everything else

it has the most modes so it should be seen as the centerpiece of the album

I could maybe bump it above All Blues, but no way it touches one of the best ballads ever written.

Why would it get recommended so hard then? Sure it was the shit back in the day but a modern listener is going to hear it and be like "ugh i've heard stuff like this a million other times"

there is a certain freshness to it in the modal tunes and how they approach playing the blues and it's a real all-star band - Miles, Coltrane, Cannoball Adderley and Bill Evans in the same band is a pretty stacked line-up of some of the greatest leaders of jazz in their own rights

I've always found it interesting about Kind of Blue that the albums reputation as "the default jazz album" kind of distracts you from how incredibly stacked the band is with top talent who were or already or would become top tier leaders and icons

Retard

only if all jazz sounds the same to you

Flamenco Sketches > All Blues > Blue in Green > So What > Freddie Freeloader

Because considering how tragic jazz as a genre is, this album isn't too bad

it's the best selling jazz album ever. everyone knows popular equals good.

Based retarded question.
