Real talk though I guess all the basement agro-nerds were switching to metal?
>forgetting about Kansas
>Why did North America only produce one good prog band in the 70s?
Correct, this one.
Kansas wasn't that bad.
Also the entire Quebec scene was pretty based. It never really got exposed to the world but it was one of the most active prog scenes in the mid to late 70s
Early Chicago was one of the best prog bands ever, and they had their own thing going unlike some other US proggers who just imitated British bands.

Any escape might help to smooth

The restless dreams of youth
Kansas wasn't that great.

Rush is Canadian, so burgers don't even have that lmao.
We own Canada tho
No, the bong Queen owns Canada.
This, Chicago ruled up until Kath died and Cetera started singing ballads for old fat women

80s Rush sucked
Does Kansas really count as "Prog" though?
I mean, they're good, and all, but I never thought of them as Prog Rock. I mean, Styx might as well be considered Prog if we're going to include Kansas.
I'm not sure you could pigeon hole Todd Rundgren into any genre, but the Utopia album is rather Proggy, I'll give you that.
I never really considered early Chicago "Pro" in any way, but Liberation is an overlooked gem. They really just opened the door for Jaz Rock fusion acts like Blood Sweat and Tears, and, to a lesser extent, Tower of Power.
Canada is part of The North American Continent, so, technicaclly, OP is right.
>I never really considered early Chicago "Pro" in any way
What would you consider "Pro(g)"
Well, Rush is "Prog Metal" but when I think of Prog, I think of Yes, King Crimson, and even Moody Blues, to a lesser extent.
