Why are people here saying rap is on it's way out? It seems like rock has all but vanished from the mainstream along with metal, classical, most jazz, etc. But why rap?

because they're fucking retarded, user.

electronic is making a comeback

Because rap is algorithmically generated nothing for automated programs to spam the play button in order to launder money for black budget chicanery. The organic appeal of it is close to not even real. It thrives off of this claim to some romantic underground it has no proof of. Those "local showcases" you see in larger cities are subsidiary of major labels and you can tell by the absence of non musicians who are there to appreciate it. It's just all social climbers who don't give a fuck what they're participating in at every level. Therefore stagnation and eventual decay is all that's in store for it.

>>It's not. Mass culture is just refusing to die without taking all of music with it.

Because it's blatantly obvious that rap peaked long ago and overstayed. People are sick of it even if normies don't know it consciously yet. Even the big rap acts know the writing's on the wall. Also rock sensibility is getting more popular than it has been in a long while.

The resurgence of rock music being observed now is just a last ditch attempt by the mass media industry to keep things the way they were. Kind of like how the Biden Administration larps that ZOG and the petrodollar are still a thing. This is how that boomer mentality is manifesting in the arts and music business.

This

Electronic especially in the IDM vein is starting to get big. That will probably be the domineering genre in pop culture in the near future. You already see lots of rappers going this direction like JPEG Mafia and Injury Reserve for example. Many normie zoomers are even getting into Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada a lot now.

You're wrong. If it's derivative of 20th century rhythm and blues it's hackery that's obstructing any real cultural development that could be taking place.

Regardless of the authenticity of Rock revival, the point is that the industry suits know that Rap is beyond stale and thus on its way out, as op put it.

What I'm saying is that rock having a revival at this moment is only a symptom of the old system refusing to fuck off and die like they're being asked to.

People forget that 20th century rhythm and blues is still fairly new. Not even a century old at that.

Especially when you consider that the basis of western classical music went on for almost two centuries.

>implying classical was ever mainstream

What old system? Record labels? And who's asking them to fuck off and die?

You could see it's roots in a lot of music such as metal. And there was a time when contemporary classical music was very popular and I think this had to do with original film scores.

It was never real. It was always a stylistic frame that's placed around things that already existed. You think of these bands and albums in terms of relevancy but if that kind of approach continues everything will just be an increasingly bland oscillation between rock and rap until the sun explodes. You're just fucking done. Your quest for relevancy and understanding youth culture strangled any incentive to actually make music.

It's passé. Mumble rap, eh, maybe. But rap in general was always a trap to increase criminality and expand the prison system.

Record labels and the giant media machine that subsidizes them. Each fiscal quarter passes by with the current rotation of pop and rap artists not being accepted by the listening public in a sustainable way. If you're not familiar with it you can tell a quarter is ending by the way the online outlets start having like Nirvana and Metallica spammed out of pure spite for the customer.
They'd rather smother everything on the way out the door than admit no one with a real artistic vision is interested in working with them. But lucky for them the US government is just as invested in keeping things the way they were so they are guaranteed subsidy at taxpayer's expense.

Its time will come

Any Forums Politics post-drunpft especially after Drumpft tried distancing himself from Any Forums formalizing some ideas about who Any Forums appeals to.

There is definitely an underground for rap though. Mostly Trap and Drill.

Sure but we probably have a good couple decades of popular rap.

Kek nice reddit spacing tourist, le IDM lol, you dummy, no one cares about that made up genre, and both Injury Reserve and Peggy are backpacker niche artists, Richard has been headlining big festivals since the 90's, IDM can't make a comeback because it's NOT a sound but an artificial scene...
What that user probably meant: Dua Lipa and The Weeknd topped last yeat charts with Nu-disco and Synthpop, both Beyoncé and Drake just released a House record, Mura Masa who's still a big deal in the UK is giving people like Shygirl or pinkpantheress even more exposure than they already had, both are making a revival of the UK garage / Breakbeat / Dub/2step sound, all household hip hop artists stopped rapping over Trap beats, both Drill and "Rage" are still popular, but the fans insist that their favorite artists sre underground clearly "gatekeeping" that stuff from the charts, Drum n bass, Reggaeton and Dancehall have been getting some buzz too
