Has an artist ever blown up and fallen off harder than 100 Gecs? Even the genre hyper pop seemed dead on fucking impact, holy shit. Died right when it arrived. What the fuck happened? Thought this was going to be the new wave but this shit is completely dead, even their socials are dead. Also
>no follow up album

They said the album was gonna come out early 2022. Still no album, and all the hype that was surrounding it has died out. My normie friends used to listen to 100 gecs, they were that popular. They squandered their opportunity imo.

Overly irony detached music won't last long if it doesn't evolve into something more sincere

Isn't their record company delaying their album release? Why don't they do the same thing as Death Grips and just leak their own album so they can change record companies?

the pod and gws are better than quebec though

pure guava is better than all three, and all are sincere, just in different ways

They probably don’t have the balls to. Oh well, that’s industry for you. Kills artistic expression.

The leading figure and most interesting artist (at least visually / conceptually) of the genre died after releasing 1 album and only 2 videos, what do you expect to happen to the movement?

They've released two singles in the past year or so, but yeah doesn't seem to be taking off the way some people thought it would.

they were never good in the first place

Robert Wheeler III

Shouldn't ought to have smashed all them kids

Comparing 100kids to Ween is a little disingenuous, no?

THAT QUEER SHOULDN'T HAVE DIDDLED THOSE FUCKING KIDS AND THE ALBUM WOULD BE OUT

Early Sophie and gotfy and that wave of hyperpop was great, but once that was established, they just tried to copy that instead of trying to push a new things

100gecs EP and cake pop are good releases, everything else is dogshit recycling a one-off formula

It's a damn shame Laura did that but it's not like that's not a common occurrence in the music scene. Creative types do tend to be a little extra when it comes to sexual preferences.

They were made to fail, their sound was initially created as a joke

why do they even need a label all they do is distorted pitch corrected vocals over a sample from jump by kris kross
