It's not a studio album. It still is an album, however, and the vast majority of the songs aren't on the debut.
I'm not saying they're not good you dummy, they're a basic bitch band just as much as OP's "boomer" artists are

There's an obvious difference between something like Hatful of Hollow or Bona Drag and then a singles compilation, for example. All of these songs were recorded congruently with the debut album and again, the majority don't appear on it.
