Simplicity is an elegant quality that makes good music better, but it’s not what makes it good in the first place. All of Katy Perry’s music is simple but it’s still bad because it has no substance. Close to the Edge is a much better album than anything released by Katy Perry despite being much more complex, but it would be even better if it could have the same effect while being more simplified.
