Cello players, did you ever experience numbness in the tip of your thumb when you first started playing? I’ve been experiencing this for hours after playing and I think it might be because I’m pressing too hard into the frog with my thumb tip. Not complete numbness but it’s noticeable.

Have you guys listened to any reconstruction of Schubert's 10th symphony? The opening of the first movement at least sounded really promising.

>any reconstruction there's only really one, and that's newbould's. it really does sound like an unfinished sketch, it's extremely barebones in terms of development and extremely dry and thin in orchestration, though i can't imagine marriner's garbage performance helps much.
Brandon Martin
Honestly, the only """version""" of it that I enjoy, is Berio's "Rendering" which switches between Schubert's parts and in the gaps Berio does his own thing. It's extremely uncanny in a way that's interesting to me. A bit like those old concerts where they used to mix contemporary and old classical works, but in the form of a composition.
