Why do some many people get filtered by this song. He's not literally saying "lets all live life with no possessions or religion" he's simply saying to imagine life that those things don't exist for a moment, challenge your own beliefs and lifestyle. If you're a christian, imagine there's no heaven. go against everything you've been taught just for one moment to put yourself in someone else's shoes. It's just a fucking song.

john wasn't a communist. He wasn't advocating for a society without personal possessions. The point is to I M A G I N E what that might be like.

reminder that this comic was made because the author was criticized for being a commie and using an iphone
you don't have to discard all possessions to be a communist, but if you want to be ideologically consistent you shouldn't consume products made by slaves in asia that cost thousands of dollars more than other equivalent products, as when you buy apple products you're just buying a brand logo. Communists can own phones, but not apple products.
he wasn't advocating for any kind of society. It's a hypothetical. You're supposed to imagine it, and maybe have a new perspective.

>The opening lines of the 3rd verse ("Was it a millionaire who said 'imagine no possessions'? / A poor little schoolboy who said 'we don't need no lessons'?") refer to John Lennon and Pink Floyd respectively. Costello said, "'The Other Side of Summer' is not a slap at John Lennon. John Lennon wrote some wonderful songs, but "Imagine", which has been so sanctified, was one of his worst. He didn't think it all the way through."
Christian Davis
reminder that the elites want to take away your possessions with "sustainability" as an excuse, not because your current lifestyle is unsustainable, but because it'll be unsustainable when they flood the west with endless immigrants to keep wages down, cost of living up, and kill any social cohesion that might exist along racial lines as everyone turns into a slightly different flavor of mystery meat.
Private jets will still be a thing though.
