there are several answers. one is that people don't listen to kpop for rap. back in gen 3, most groups had one throwaway rap verse shoehorned into the bridge and that was it. now every other group spends half the song or more rapping and talk singing. what are the songs that did well this year? love dive, fearless, feel my rhythm, smiley, run2u, invu - all songs with minimal or no rap. even tomboy, by a group whose concept is rap-heavy and which is produced by a rapper had more singing and actual melody than Up. people don't want rap from groups whose concept is pop, i.e. everyone other than bp, aespa and idle. none of these nugus trying to copy this style have succeeded with it. if koreans want rap they'll listen to jessi or actual rappers like people from aomg, and that's an older demographic than kpop is marketed to. now, add to that the fact that kekler's fandom is utter trash and shrinking by the day because they can't stop fighting amongst themselves over who was mean to horsie or who insulted piggy, not to mention embarrassing themselves on queendom, and you have a terrific formula for gigaflopping. that they managed to get the song back into the 300s on melon is nothing short of a miracle considering how shit the fandom is right now.
