bait

This was the very first album I downloaded on my iPod Nano
It fucks desu

That's cool, one of their better songs I guess. I'm not big into theatrics in my music, not Coldplay in general

It fucks what?

Zoomer speak for "it rips"
Got it stuck in my head through a convoluted chain of thought which started with tortilla chips and ended up at a Vice journalist who constantly uses the term

It's Me Billy

“For anyone wondering, this song is an interpretation of King Louis XVI's lost final speech before his death following the French Revolution. It's written in Louis' point of view as he apologizes to his people and accepts his demise. For some background, Louis was imprisoned and publicly executed by his own people following his downfall. When he was marched to the guillotine for execution he attempted to give one last speech to his people before his death, but the French revolutionists booed and the executioners drums were played louder to drown out the sounds of his words. As so, before Louis could finish his speech he was forced into the guillotine and beheaded, his final words now lost forever.”

And the lyrics

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning, I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listened as the crowd would sing
"Now the old king is dead, long live the king"

One minute I held the key
Next, the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason, I can't explain
Once you'd gone, there was never
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world

It was a wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string (mmm, mmm)
Oh, who would ever want to be king?

Your not cool or funny also I’m way younger than both of you weirdo dorks your trying way to hard

Ok boomer

Based. Never knew that was a sample, only found out recently they nicked a Velvet underground tune

Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins did the production on Viva la Vida, probably part of why it's so good, so Jon gave them an early version of Light Through the Veins to use as the intro/outro

Midnight from years later is also a Jon Hopkins track, Amphora, with some vocals.
