Okay lets talk Steely Dan. What's their best song and why is it Kid Charlamagne?

even caves is better. only a fool would say that is underrated
This or Bodhisattva
Only their hits are decent. Of which there are 2. Faggot
This
Not their best, IMHO, but it's in my Top Ten, and I think a song about The Grateful Dead's original soundman who invented the modern day concert sound system, and allegedly made the best LSD on The West Coast in the 1960s is pretty cool.
Love the guitar on Bodhisattva

For me? Two against nature.
Speaking of Steely dan, what do you guys think of my steely dan-esque riff.
Home at last is unbelievable and glamour profession is audio butter.
Couldn't pick between the two.
You spelled Aja wrong.
BASED
Whenever I hear this band I feel like I’m waiting in the dentist’s office.
The patrician's pick.
LOCAL BOYS WILL SPEND A QUARTER
Their hits are shit milquetoast dad "rock" that puts you to sleep.
They're only engaging when they're getting experimental.

you know it to be true
Needs some weird chord changes at ~12s to be Danworthy
its Kid Charlemagne because Kanye sampled it.
Why is Steely Dan so highly rated? They're sleepy, soporific, and lack any kind of bite. They're so...soft, mid tempo, overproduced, undercomposed, and structurally flat.
SOME of their stuff is properly brilliant, like Aja, but most of their stuff (especially their hits) are straight up boring.
Like a worse version of Little Feat that is inexplicably more popular and more critically acclaimed.
Seriously: what's their appeal? They're only good when they're experimental and most of the time they just aren't.
