>Tangerine Dream has released over one hundred albums (not counting compilations and fan releases) over the last five decades.
where the fuck does one even start with them? i was watching Risky Business and i really liked the main theme, so i thought i'd check out their catalogue, but it's fucking massive. all i know is according to Wikipedia Steven Wilson ranks "Zeit" as GOAT, should i start with it?

yeah either whatever era zeit is from or the virgin era is good, former is more dark latter is close to OP image soundtrack
checked
that or "Phaedra"
I've only ever listened to their 70s material. What's the highlights for their other stuff? I've always assumed it was a mixed bag.
Watch Thief, preferably with some big ass speakers.
i love Heat and Collateral and have been meaning to watch Thief for the longest time, but i don't want to see the obnoxiously blue modern version. is there any way to get the original theatrical version with the colour not out of whack? iirc RARBG only has the blue filter

this is the best version of love on a real treain btw
I think it's form 'live on london eye' or something

pergamon and optical race are pretty good
underrated track from risky

also i feel the need to post this in every thread for some reason but an old friend from high school's dad was in this movie, we fell out over something incredibly stupid and now i can't watch it. thanks for reading.
>underrated track from risky
i don't think it's underrated, this and Tom Cruise dancing in tighty-whiteys is basically what this movie is famous for. in fact, i recognised this track when watching the movie, because i had heard it before in Mr. Robot
listen to this too
I think they remastered some years ago too
oh btw fun fact one of the band members has a rym account and he hates jerome froese

idk why I love this track too
rest of the album not very good
Zeit is a very long and minimal album, I think a decent starter pack would be
>Atem
>Phaedra
>Rubicon
>Stratosfear
>Force Majeure
Go to rym and sort by highest score
the best version is the one with bongos and guitar
And all this time I thought Bob Seger did the soundtrack for Risky Business.

Listen to these awesome Tangerine Dream albums first:
Phaedra
Ricochet
Rubycon
Stratosfear
Force Majeure
Tangram
Exit
Logos Live
White Eagle
Hyperborea
Firestarter
Poland
Risky Business [it's more like an EP]
Le Parc
Underwater Sunlight
Optical Race
Quinoa
Tyranny of Beauty
Goblins Club
Mars Polaris
Great Wall of China
Mala Kunia
Raum
These are their best IMO. Listen to the rest after that.
GTA 5's original soundtrack (I think it's called "the cinematic score") it's really fucking good
Zeit is a bit scary drone meditation piece. It's great but you gotta be ready for it. I'd go with Phaedra > Rubycon > Stratosfear > Thief
