Kpop groups don’t need to keep climbing in popularity/hype/success
I think this is unpopular because people are aaaaaLways discussing how x and x have peaked in popularity, are less relevant, are blabbity blah blah no hype
Imo, it really…doesn’t matter? Sure, Blackpink and Twice and even arguably BTS have peaked in popularity by now. People are starting to say ITZY has peaked too, or they’re dropping in hype and shit (I would disagree, but whatever). But these are well-established groups with extremely sizeable fandoms. They do just fine every comeback; sales, streams, yada yada, they’re all well above average. They’ve been in the industry this long and have managed to create a stabilized environment for themselves, and I think that’s most important. Not to be constantly climbing or reaching for the heavens, but to achieve a level of success and comfort where attracting more fans isn’t all that important, and they can go about their careers knowing that they’re good.
I don’t think there’s a need for groups to always do better than their last, and if they project downwards a few times it doesn’t indicate total disaster. As long as they don’t completely flop and drop into nugudom, as long as each comeback leaves people and idols happy, paid, and fed, then really, nothing’s wrong. I just see people posting all the time about groups “peaking” and it’s always in such a negative light, and personally it’s not that big of a deal.
