because hip-hop is rhythm based
also the bass plays or implies two notes

Based as hell

and?

really nice feel / swing. cool incidental sounds. tasteful percussion.

Sounds like someone is about to suit up in a superhero movie

Do better than this then

shadows of tomorrow always felt like a weak point in the album to me, but i think its more the writing and delivery than the beat

For me it's Incarcerated Scarfaces

It's Madlib so its genius

this, zoomers will never get it

>shadows of tomorrow
Madlib has lazier beats than this

that's not so bad. the beat for rhinestone cowboy is essentially a single two second sample with a load of effects on top of it played on a loop.

Rhinestone's beat is good though

It’s the root note that everything else builds off of. This happens more than you realize.

if that one not is all you hear then you don't get what makes madlib special at all

kanye has got you covered for some real hack shit

literally just a pitch shifted sample loop

It's not just "one" note.
That note is heavily accompanied by various noises, percussions and other samples that form an ensemble together. This is peak experimental hip-hop/noise music done right.

Plus Madlib is used to unorthodox instrumentals, link related:
