How do I get into jazz?

How do I get into jazz?
I've tried listening to a handful of albums but they don't click with me. Unless Zappa counts.

Who do I listen to for that cuphead sound? I've tried a couple popular recommendations but they didn't have that combination of fast, aggressive, and catchy that I was looking for. An example would be something like one of these

Closest i've heard so far might be a song or two by Squirrel Nut Zippers

Listen to smooth jazz and pose like a poser do.b

You’re looking for big band and ragtime jazz
Duke Ellington
Count Basie
Louie Armstrong
Jelly Roll Morton
Scott Joplin

I know of what you seek OP

Jacques loussier trio - play Bach
Art blakey and the jazz messengers - a night in Tunisia
Miles and Monk - at newport
Joe pass - for django

John Coltrane's Olé is what made jazz click for me.

I'm not OP but thanks! Do these guys have any instrumental songs though? Also a lot of big band that I hear is too upbeat sounding for my taste

Start with White People Jazz

Why not begin your journey with the oldest jazz band to have existing recorded material? The Original Dixieland Jazz Band, they're called. It's bumpy old school N'Orlins jazz (pre big band) and it's the best place to start because it's the original jazz sound.

That’s a great suggestion

There’s plenty of Instrumental stuff, just dig into an artist an you’ll find something you like. Big band jazz had a lot of vocals though, yeah. This was the pop music of the time
