In America, Running Up That Hill was Kate's highest charting single, reaching no.30 at it's peak

Why do so many retards keep acting like she used to be some well known pop artist? What are there like 3 people from the UK on mu?
Most of her shit didn't even enter the American charts. Just two songs at that point. She was a nobody.

Brits have such an outsized cultural influence that they forget that some acts can be parochial. Cliff Richard is another example of a one hit wonder in the US who is an institution in the UK

>has a hit in like the 70s
>completely forgotten about except by music experts
>stranger things make song relevant again

By the way guys, Stranger Things season 4 is out now! Watch it today on Netflix(tm)

many such cases
Status Quo

thx for the info

my boomer mom knows who she is so she cant be too obscure in america

My parents both know her, and my mom is from le small commie island in the Atlantic ocean. My English teacher (not native speaker so not British) used to put her songs in class

Gen X and millennials are more likely to know of her, but most still don't, and didn't 15 years ago.
It's not that she's incredibly obscure in the states, it's that she wasn't anywhere remotely close to being some huge pop star or cultural phenomenon (like she was in the UK).

It's genuinely interesting how much more receptive Britain was to "alternative" music than America

I'm just annoyed that when I tell people that Running Up That Hill is the best song of the 80s, they will assume it's because of a show that I have never watched and will never watch.

She wasn't really a mega pop star in the US, but in the UK was rather mainstream. She wasn't really obscure in the US per se though, she had mild success and was big enough to do an SNL performance, was on a fairly popular song with Peter Gabriel as well. Americans who grew up in the 80s and were into new wave would at least be vaguely aware of the name. Its not like she was a total nobody abroad like say The Housemartins or Kristy Maccoll

my mom knows who she is

I think the first thing they'd think is "wow this guy is a fag", not a TV show

even chris chan knows who kate bush is

there's definitely more than 3 people cus I get recommended too much shitty dnb

America had Elvis they didn't need Cliff Richard

You'd be surprised. Nice ad hominem, by the way.

kate's bush lol

kek why do these seethe threads make me laugh so much?
okay so you hate kate bush or brits or whatever lol no need to cry in public about it

running up that hill was in some netflix show (stranger things i think) so now a bunch of people are raging about "normies" discovering her
