Wow this was disappointing. I've heard so much about this band and finally decided to check it out. Literally only one good song(The Twilight Is My Robe). Very boring songwriting and not a single memorable moment. Run of the mill melodeath with sub-par prog wankery. Fuck this band, Bloodbath is a million times better.

did you get filtered, OP?

Yeah

Saw em live , so boring. Nothing stands out. Not 1 riff, 1 lick , nothing

old shit good, new shit boring

>Literally only one good song(The Twilight Is My Robe).
you listened to the entire 13 album discography of a band you don't even like?
lol
lmao, even

WE ENTERED WINTER ONCE AGAIN

you'll probably listen to it 5 more times before realizing they're actually amazing

How else would I know if they're shit or not? Judging a band by only listening to few songs is ridiculous because almost every band has shit songs so there's a chance you might listen to those first and form a bad impression about the band. You can't know unless you've listened to everything. It's tiring but it's the only way to truly discover a band and shit on them or praise them justifiably afterwards.

Oprah? Is this ironic black metal or something far more stupid?

I just look at the covers, if I don't like em the band isn't worth it

literally bought blackwater park because of one of the clean segments in like the last track and can't get through the album. clean vocals kill metal

How much time did you spend listening to them? Going through 13 different albums with usually longer songs is not something to be done in several days, but if you didn't like it, that's fine, you can't enjoy everything.

this is bait; they only play melodeath for their first two albums.

It's not really melodeath. If anything, it's closer to black metal.

It took me about 2 weeks. But it is what it is.

there is a lot of black metal on their early albums especially, yes.

morningrise and orchid might have shared aesthetics with black metal, but musically they are still chunky melodeath riffs mixed with acoustic passages

There's quite a lot of tremolo picking and the vocals are closer to black metal. The closest band I can think of in how those albums sound like is Ulver.

>tremolo picking
tremolo picking didn't show up in black metal until the 90s, whereas it was present in thrash and death metal in the 80s.
> the vocals
there's quite a lot of variety in death metal vocals, so this is a non-argument

I have really fond memories of my first time hearing them. I was grinding in the deserts doing menial quests when I listened to them for the first time, I listened to Watershed and it just hit right. To this day it's the only album I find relistenable. The rest of their metal albums are honestly really bland, first 3 had their moments and the prog era is just terrible

Hardcore fans say Watershed is the shittest album, I don't care
