Train suck but not in a way that's as actively detestable as Nickelback. A band like Theory of a Dead Man is more comparable to Nickelback
The vocalist is more palatable in smaller doses
If Nickelback sang Hey Soul Sister I would rear end a car every time it came on
Please tell me what is so bad about Nickelback? They made fucking pop rock, who gives a shit. I’ll take Nickelback over Theory of a deadman or fucking Kings of Leon any day.
Hero? How you remind me? not even bad songs
Chad Kroger has a voice like an unmuffled engine and that's about it
I don't really even dislike Train. They're fine mainstream pop, like Bruno Mars is now. Nickelback on the other hand cemented the death of rock by first riding into success off of the coattails of grunge music that had fallen on hard times, and then changing their sound to become the douchiest thing ever.
so does every other post grunge band
>fine mainstream pop
>like bruno mars
opinion discarded.
yeah, you can go listen to uptown funk, i’ll happily choose this instead
>the douchiest thing ever.
They've done a number on you.
Pop is always frivolous and discardable. They get more leeway than rock does. Nickelback sounds like society morphing into the current age of dumb Walmart Americans who can't appreciate art, culture, food, and their proud of being that way.
Nickelback was and sometimes is still hated because of how inescapable they were for a period of time. As a teenager watching alternative music TV in the 00's, I'd see their videos being pushed so much it was insane, sometimes it seemed like every other video was Nickelback. When middle-of-the-road stuff like this becomes so ubiquitous, you are practically trained to hate it.
nickelback isnt even american.
Train is good
Lol if this isn't douchy, what is?
I know they're Canadian. That's like saying the Vaselines aren't really British you lump.
How is it any different than the landscape of rock during the 2000s? That’s what I’m wondering here. Nickelback, Weezer’s Beverly Hills, Train, 3 Doors Down, it was all basically the same shit.
back to r e d d i t
Train really has something more to offer. Nickleback was band number 34,874 of the same rough breathy post-Pearl Jam rock scene. No one was asking for more.
Train had a more dynamic sound, more dynamic vocalist, and a lot less edge. I say all of this fucking HATING Train, but still.
Difference being Weezer made 3 really good albums before they started singing about Pork n Beans. Nickelback has 0 good albums, but to you they're = to the band that made Pinkerton.. This is what in was talking about when I said Americans lack the ability to appreciate nuanced details, and that's why their art is shallow and ridiculous today. The country that basically started everything rock related, from Elvis in the 50s, to Velvet Underground in the 60s, Ramones and Talking Heads in the 70s, now makes McDonald'sWalmart music.
>it was all basically the same shit.
Not a musician, I take it.
