Can someone recs me music with strong Asian characteristic.
I've just realized that I don't listen to enough Asian artists. They're mostly black and white artists. I want something with strong Asian characteristic if that make any sense.
For example, hip hop and Jazz is really a black genre and while something like Prog rocks, midwest emo and Classical are really white genre. what are some of the genre of music that's really Asian?
Interesting honestly. But I'd argue that those really count. Because all of them (except triphop) are Japanese culture through American lens. They're the Japanese through the vision of Americans/foreigner romanticization.

Not wrong. There are Japanese future funk artists but they're, and your point applies here, definitely influenced by western styles of the genre.
You could try some Asian alt-rock like Ogre you asshole or Asian kung-fu generation? It's not a wholly Asian genre of course but the Asian groups making alt-rock have a pretty distinct sound compared to western counter parts imo. youtu.be/bNC7VusxNHs

I listen to Asian artists and writers because I love their unique music, not because they're Asian. Japan is the place for me btw.
