>How do I vote? Reply to a nominated album with an approval. If an album gets 5 approvals it gets into the qualifying poll.
>When does the nominations end? When about 128 albums are nominated.
The problem with pre-1965 music is that it was largely singles-based and albums were usually just the hit single surrounded by filler and questionable covers. Also you only got to release an album if you had a hit single. Exceptions would be jazz and trad pop albums but these were usually just collections of standards.

singles would be casual/jukebox fodder and more often aimed at teenagers while albums were expensive and aimed at adults, so they tended to have standards rather than pop or novelty tunes.
see here. this is populated by standards like "The Things We Did Last Summer" that sound very unlike her hits because the reasoning was that adults rather than kids bought albums.
