And Gavin McInnes is not a 200iq gigachad like he thinks
Ill bite. What are the Ramones lacking that makes a band "punk"
Good music
What's his opinion on the smith
>Morrissey is Rock's greatest lyricist The Smith's are amazing
>literally invented the punk guitar style
>popularized the leather jackets and ripped jeans look aped by Sid Vicious
>influenced by the New York Dolls, The Stooges, The Velvet Underground/Andy Warhol, The Who
>songs were about violent fantasies and drugs
>CBGB regular along with Television, The Dictators, Talking Heads, Blondie, Mink DeVille, Dead Boys
>friends with Richard Hell and Dead Boys
wat
>Blue Cheer
>Black Sabbath
>MC5
I love the Smiths, but
>Leonard Cohen
He's literally a hipster casual who roped in his racism so he could contradict his hipster friends who got richer than him
The Ramones debut is the definitive punk album.
>People unironically listen to Blitzkrieg Bop and say "yeah, that's good music"
cuz they didn’t have mohawks or neon liberty spikes and bathe in their own piss
Based
You know, I can sit around talking about what an idiot he is all I want, but the fact remains that he's a famous talk show host who co-founded Vice, and I'm some nobody talking about him on Any Forums.
>Good music
punk is basiclly based on being shit music and proud of it
no sicc breakdowns for crowdkilling
The Ramones were in Tony Hawk Proskater, case closed
He talks about punk music alot and Dokken of all bands
ministry was also in thps
based soundtracks
This but rocket to russia
They’re actually the only good punk band.
It's not exactly what they're lacking but what they had. They were marketed by ABC, one of the biggest radio and television broadcast companies ever, especially at the time of the release. Probably not corporate plants, exactly; by definitely corporate tools.
I like the Ramones and I've been defending them for this whole thread, but lolno. Even in the style of punk they started, I'd argue that Stiff Little Fingers and The Undertones did it better.
>He's literally a hipster casual
Hipster, yes, but not a casual. He literally wrote the book on hipsters and was 20 years early in basically all the current media trends. He was always anti hipster by basically just knowing more than hipsters about music and fashion. I haven't gone back and read any old dos and don't but those used to hilarious, and way ahead of their time. He's essentially just a contrarian though, and he doubled down as he lost his Vice hold and got older. So most of his public opinions on music are flat out contrarian opinions to piss hipsters off. I talked to this dude a handful of times in the mid 2000s and he knew of every obscure punk band in the past and in local scenes.
